THE 13TH ANNUAL COSTUME DESIGNERS GUILD AWARDS

The Costume Designers Annual Guild Awards

Hi Gals and Guys,
Up for some Labrish?  Can we call this Costume Designers Guild Award Ceremony “Lucky Number 13″?  I think we can.  An event that honors Costume Designers who are imaginative, savvy and are inspired and inspiring in every frame of television, film and stage costuming is always worthy of a celebration by all, but most of all by the actors they dress, the writers whose work they interpret and the viewing audience.  Among the honored were Julie Weiss, Michael Dennison, Joel Schumacher and Janie BryantHalle Berry, who wore a stunning red gown by Elie Saab won the Lacoste Spotlight Award; she emoted an acceptance speech as if inspired by a famous scene from Gone With The Wind in which Vivien Leigh  made several declarations or from one of those Tammy movies with Sandra Dee where the line “I do declare” was vehemently used—Ms. Berry declared that Fashion Stylists are not Costume Designers, she declared that there is a huge difference, so take note everyone…clarification has been made!

A worthy and thrilling inspiration afforded by Costume Designers to the audience is when a piece worn in a film or television show is a part of the viewer’s wardrobe collection….A lovely and complimentary feeling, right?  When this happens, a sense of accomplishment is had by fashionistas and the thought that surfaces is—ahhh, great minds-we are in sync!  So, a thrilling bravo to the Costume Designers who’ve dressed our favorite characters for our fashion entertainment!  Wanna dish on a few divas on the carpet?

Halle Berry in Elie Saab is an unstoppable fashion diva in this gorgeous red gown---the sex appeal is apparent and the glam factor is mesmerizing-- and at 44, this woman looks amazing--there is no one hotter! She seem to have lost weight which heightens the sex appeal factor-every curve hugged by lace and satin with precision...Such an upgrade to her Golden Globes look...She just had to clear up any misunderstandings on her Nina Ricci choice.

Claire Danes in Lanvin-- a dress that appears to be a little too casual for an event about costumes and that hair is just ridiculous.

Diane Lane in a Circa 1920's throw back --I love the jewelry and the hair but the shoes are too low and she is just way too hot to be hiding in this frock!!

Kristin Davis in Oscar de la Renta in a black/white polka dot strapless gown---I'm bored; I like the concept of the polka dots but it's just too much in a gown, a top or cocktail dress yes, not a gown. She is however as beautiful as ever with an ever smoking body/booty, that's the other thing--show off the back-side before gravity starts to pull it down...

Janie Bryant - Costume Designer, a true Fashionista---the gown is stunning—the blending of browns, black/grey/orange create a peacock kaleidoscope, a captivating look, the fit is perfect, she truly understands what is classic, tasteful and impactful.

Melora Hardin in a very cute pink number that I think is a little too young for her--beautiful dress and nicely fitted and if it were it in black I would say WOW-but not pink...

Ginnifer Goodwin in Roksanda IIincic-- sexy black and gold dress---I am not enjoying the fit but the hair and makeup are stunning!!

Sara Hyland is wearing a classic; I like this dress but she is so petite that it swallows her; I think she is still trying to find her look...

Lisa Edelstein in a gorgeous black off the shoulder sequined dress and although a tad long is hot!! Beautifully fitted. I think she is understands her body now and has improved immensely from previous outings.
