The Environment—Our Planet—Fashion Worthy of Mention and Ryan’s Roses

Hi Gals & Guys, Up for some labrish?

The Environment – Our planet

Is Mother Earth in crisis? Are you aware of the impact your nonchalance in disposing trash, what you deem trash, your recycling habits, your poor use of water has had on our wonderful planet and the crisis you will be leaving for your children and your children’s children to endure and possibly correct?

Me, what am I doing? Well…I recycle, I’ve started to think about my water usage especially with the water shortage and rationing that will be enforced in Southern California in the next few weeks and the fines that will be imposed if I/my household exceed normal usage. What I have been totally oblivious to is the major injustice and negative effects my disregard has caused for our wild life and our ocean life….I came across an article today in Elle’s May issue on the Cousteaus, America’s premier Aquatic family. The Cousteau’s owned “The Calypso” which Jacques Yves Cousteau who died in 1997 used to travel the world documenting people’s influence on water life and warned of the doom that would befall us if changes were not made…We haven’t really changed anything since his attempts at educating us…His grandson Fabian Cousteau is heading a program called Plant a Fish which replants flora like sea grasses to prevent erosion and fauna like oyster beds to purify the water and revive sea life. So what more can I/ you do? How about reusable cloth grocery bags, recycle our cans and plastics and paper, use water sparingly and consciously. I heard/saw a video of a young Canadian girl (Severn Suzuki) making a plea to the UN to change the way we live on this planet of ours for her sake, for her children’s future and the many generations to come. Her words echoed her disappointment at our irresponsibility and noted lackadaisical tendencies in caring for where we live. Hearing the words from the young girl’s mouth made me really do a 180, her words inspired this blog. So, this young girls’ pleas have given me cause to pause and ponder my role in the decline of our environment and yet there have been countless other mentions, documentaries, even a day, week and month set aside highlighting awareness of the misuse of the blessings bestowed upon us and yet we have been so negligent in making a change.

What is it that is going to jar you into action? Take a listen/watch, see if this is the catalyst that causes you to effect change before this planet of ours implodes. Look around at your children and ask yourself if you are doing enough for their future. We are mindful of educating our children but how about the environment they inhabit? Have we completely forgotten that very important piece of their future? Set some goals, make a daily effort to make a change, small steps eventually gets you to your desired destination. Invest now, consider it one of your retirement goals. (Link)

This morning’s installment was JUICY…boy was it ever….Married with two children and a WHAT? —-There is a famous saying about a certain vacation/get-away spot—you know the really fun place that offers all sort of hopes for financial enrichment, sexual enrichment and major entertainment. It’s Vegas Baby and that world-renowned saying “What Happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas”, not true…think again dahlins! Take a listen [Link]…..BUSTED…..So, why do men/women cheat again? Boredom, insatiable sexual appetites, intrigued by variety, stress, marrying/dating/living with the wrong person, chose too hastily? What is it really?

I suppose it’s like being addicted to a substance, gambling or a particular food, the rush of the conquest, the constant urge to be high, the feeling of being larger than life or just plain displeasure with oneself, thereby masking. Whatever the label, how does one feel when the deceit is discovered? Should people who have a constant void that requires feeding/pleasuring need to be in daily/weekly therapy to cure the urge/addiction? Can it be cured? How do you determine what the catalyst is and rising above it, saving your loved ones from pain and disappointment that are undoubtedly a part of the package. Do people wish the consequences had been learnt when the first act was manifested? Is that it, identifying what the trigger point was and dealing with subsequent deeds/actions?  What do you think?

 Catch you lata. Mauva
